20: Jake
According to letterboxd, the most critically acclaimed music video we’ve watched is “To Be or Not to Be” (Abby), and the most critically unacclaimed (not a word) music video we’ve watched is “Cats” (Eddy).

NMC’s 100th pick was Renée’s “Gone in 60 Seconds”.
Pauline did her first countdown on May 2, 2023. Chazak, chazak, v’neeschazek!
On February 20, 2024, both Nik and Justin won with “Six Days Seven Nights”, but I “awarded” the win to Justin because Nik has won too many times. I love you so much, Nik.

HIATUS UNTIL JANUARY 3, 2023
On February 14, 2023, only one NMC member watched the winning movie. Lisa (who also won the nomination) watched - and didn’t particularly enjoy, it sounds like - “Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story”.
Eddy pronounces “Wimbledon” as “Wimbleton”. It’s pretty cool.
Jeff officially entered “Man of the Year” contention when he joined NMC on January 17, 2023. It was AMAZING.
Let’s Go, Brandon! Brandon finally ended his cold streak on November 8, 2022 with “A Knight’s Tale”.
Sam finally got her first pick on April 19, 2022 (“Enough Said”). Sam now constitutes (rounding up) 1% of our total picks!
Hi, Julie! Julie’s first ever pick was on December 6, 2022. It was “Four Christmases”. I wasn’t there, but Discord makes it seem like it was… not great. Sorry, Julie!
The Nicky’s to Success: get your first pick in on January 17, 2023 and make it “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider!
Pauline wasn’t nuts about “Clifford”, which we watched on August 17, 2021. She thought it was better than “Serving Sara”, which we watched on November 30, 2021… and that’s wrong.
Justin finally got his wish with a “Laws of Attraction” pick on March 29, 2022 - but apparently it wasn’t that good.
Once, twice, three times a Jakey? On June 28, 2022, Jake became the first person to be selected three times in a row (“The Big Sleep”, “The 1st Annual Live ‘On Cinema’ Oscar Special”, and “Come From Away”).
Lisa sent all of us to heaven as “The Priest”, Justin committed suicide as “The Doctor”, and Ted immediately and vocally affirmed his role as “The Werewolf” during Werewolves.
Abby knew our pictures and Pauline knew our website for Brandon’s “Social Media & Website Trivia” on November 8, 2022.
Other Fun Facts:
NMC watched its first Martin Lawrence movie, “Blue Streak”, on June 29, 2021.
Our first trilogy is finally complete. Nik was so excited to be the tie-breaking vote for Xi’s “High School Musical 3” on May 24, 2022.
Our first coin-flip happened on “Half & Half” day (what are the odds?) Abby had to flip after three ties between “Kiki’s Delivery Service” and “To Be or Not To Be”; the witch won it.

NMC Games:
Brandon’s “Trivia” game on June 14, 2022: Jake won with 11 points (he gets to pick the next movie); Abby was in second with 10 points (she has hosting immunity for up to 8 weeks); Nik lost with 4 points (he has to host next week).
Nik’s “Framed” trivia game on June 21, 2022: Brandon / Justin / Ted won with 15 points (Justin scored big with a first round shot for “The Edge”), Lisa / Pauline / Abby were in a very close second with 11 points, and Renée / Josh / Jake scored 3 points, but felt really good as a team.
Nik’s “Nicely Morphin' Film Star Strangers” game on June 28, 2022: Boys v. Girls, ended in a tie! Everyone gets an extra vote next week (we forgot about it the next week).
Ted’s “Name That Movie Review” on July 5, 2022: It was great, and Pauline and Lisa tied for the win! They get to name Ted next week (they forgot to, so they’ll do so on July 19).
Justin’s “Heaven or Hell” game on July 12, 2022: Even though we caused 9/11 by squeezing the cream cheese in heaven, we all won! Click here to start your journey.
Lisa’s “NMC: Endgame: A Roleplaying Game” on July 19, 2022: She led us all to salvation by defeating both Future Ted and Dark Ted (tragically, Tim Duncan died for Marvel’s sins). Click here to peep those amazing character sheets!
Jake & Xi’s “PictionScary” on July 26, 2022: It was just OK. But Renée won, which rocks!
Renée’s “Mad Libs” on August 2, 2022: Was there a winner? I don’t know, but the stories are here!
Eddy & Abby’s “Scavenger Hunt” on August 9, 2022: Justin won by a point, which meant that everyone else had to mail him a prize. Justin, what did you get mailed??
Pauline’s “Waifu Wars” on August 16, 2022: Pauline said it best: “A five-way tie means everyone goes into the trash, because no one wins in wars.” Then she gave a very long speech on the military-industrial complex while Jeff was silent in the background.
Eddy’s “What Movie Are We Talking About?” on August 23, 2022: It was a trial run for Jake, Xi, Abby, Renée, & Nik. Next week, it’s the real deal.
Eddy’s “Nice Movie Club Says The Darnedest Things” on August 30, 2022: After some very poor Final Jeopardy strategy from Jake, Nik wins the final NMC game of Season Four! Eddy is working on a good prize for Nik.
Here are some archived fun facts (between november 3, 2021 and may 17, 2022)
Lisa could change her name to Stalin because she committed absolute genocide against us in NMC Jeopardy on January 11, 2022.
Renée is running NMC’s first ever Secret Santa this year. Jake made history when he ignored all the rules and ordered Pauline a $2,000 Edible Arrangement.
Update: Everyone except Jake viciously violated the $20 or under rule.
As of April 12, 2022, Lisa & Eddy officially have a feud!
Maybe newest member Alex joined us on November 3, 2021? We hope so.
And like that… he’s gone.

Here are some archived fun facts (as of prior to november 2, 2021)
If you’ve been in this group, there’s a 1 in 4 chance your name starts with a “J” (welcome, Nicky!)
There’s a 17.5% chance that the movie we’re about to watch starts with the word “The”. There’s a 42.9% chance that Jake or Justin recommended that movie. Turns out that Jake loves movies that start with “The” the most, as 60% of his selected movies start with the article (literally).
Who picks the best movies? According to Letterboxd ratings, Abby is our film connoisseur - 4 of the 7 movies she’s picked are in the top 9 of movies we’ve watched. And who picked the worst movie, critically-speaking? That would once again be Eddy, with “Cats”… the worst, most boring film ever made.
On April 6, 2021, the unthinkable happened: a three-way tie occurred not once, not twice, but three times. Screenshots below depict the drama unfolding in real-time (note that the third screenshot was initially a tie, but the votes were messed with once the fourth round of voting started). After the third round, each candidate (Ted, Abby, and Nik) was forced to present a stump speech for 40 seconds for their selected film (“Private Benjamin”, “Blue Hawaii”, and “Practical Magic”) respectively. Ultimately, while Nik’s “Practical Magic” persisted, the group as a whole lost, as Lisa’s mom had already left the conversation.
I f***ed Ted, Ted f***ed us all, then Eddy came back and said “I want to f*** too!” : Eddy and Ted are tied for the biggest, thickest winners with ten (10) selected nominations a piece! 2020 Man of the Year Brandon wanted an asterisk next to Ted’s lead-taking pick of “Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me", and Brandon gets what he wants!
A mad lad. On May 4, 2021, Eddy was legitimately very upset at Jake for suggesting “McCabe and Mrs. Miller” without checking to see if it was streaming (he had; it wasn’t). Jake had spent that whole afternoon making a theme song for Eddy and gave Eddy all of his Bugs time. Then, Eddy nominated “Dog Day Afternoon” on June 1, 2021 and I think we’d all agree that “McCabe and Mrs. Miller” is a nicer movie.
Another virgin sacrificed! With Renée’s pick of “Hocus Pocus” on October 5, 2021, newest member Nicky (officially inducted into NMC on October 5, 2021) is now the only member without a selected pick. NICKY, GET ON IT.
Shall we shag now and watch the sequel later? On July 13, 2021, NMC watched a second in a series (“Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me”) for the first time (they watched “Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery” the week before).
He just gets better with Dr(äge)r! Will finally made his voice heard with his first pick on June 1, 2021: “Escape from New York”.
I thought this was cool: only one Nice Movie Club member actually appears in any of the movies we’ve watched. Yes, lovable Ted appears in both “Enchan(Ted)” and “It’s Complica(Ted)”. He’s also literally in the movie “Spiderman 3”, playing the role of Peter Parker. Or perhaps that’s only in my dreams… Anyway, maybe one day we’ll watch 1997’s “(JustIn) Time” so that Justin can feel more included.
Ted plays Peter Parker disguised as a marching band drummer in this pivotal scene in “Spiderman 3”.
On July 27, 2021, NMC thought that “Cube” was nicer than “Take Shelter”.
The moment that pierced the world: on August 10, 2021, Eddy was unable to (because he did not attempt to) prime factorize two numbers (65 and 128). Because of this, he will be piercing his penis, live, on August 17, 2021. We eagerly look forward to it, as we’ll also be celebrating the fact that, on August 10, 2021, Eddy was the first NMC member to have 10 nominations selected (with “The Mummy”). Congratulations, Eddy!
A new Jew! Ezra S.’s first appearance in NMC was on October 19, 2021 - and while his first NMC movie was “Batman: Mask of the Phantasm", his first actual movie was “Double Indemnity”. His papa has great taste.
There have been six “hot-streaks” in Nice Movie Club: Ted, Jake, Nik, Lisa twice (this is controversial: her second pick was an episode of “9-1-1” and an episode of “9-1-1: Lone Star”), and Will have each had their recommendations picked two weeks in a row. No one has been picked three weeks in a row. After winning with “High School Musical” on July 20, 2021 (and stopping Ted from piercing his c***… thanks a lot, Eddy), Eddy broke his cold streak. The current coldest member? Technically Nicky, but we’ll give her a break… so it’s Mardy (when he picked “Romeo Must Die” on May 4, 2021).
Who loves Phil Bosco the most? That’d be Eddy, who’s picked 1/3 of the Bosco movies we’ve watched.
The member who has been congratulated the most for “Finally Having Their Movie Selected” is Pauline, inexplicably nearly every week. Pauline has won five times. Also, we’ve lost count, but Pauline has also passed on nominating a movie the most amount of times. Pauline… we love your movies, so please nominate more!
Aww, his first words!… Newest Nice Movie Club member Scott’s first official contribution to the group’s Discord chat was on March 9, 2021. During “Love on Delivery”, Scott asked: “Was there a bottle in his butt?”
A new new! Will joined NMC on April 27, 2021, and he looks a little bit like that one guy… that one guy that someone’s mom would probably be into.
The official song of Nice Movie Club is Lovefool by The Cardigans. Jake used the song multiple times in his awkward apology video to Eddy for suggesting “McCabe and Mrs. Miller” the week before.
No bueno. “Papa: Hemingway in Cuba” keeps knocking at the door, but the forces of good have held it at bay. On May 11, 2021 and May 18, 2021, “Papa” nearly won… but a runoff vote each week kept it at bay (of pigs).
May 25, 2021 Update: “Papa: Hemingway in Cuba” won the vote! Jake’s nomination finally won on May 25, but because Justin was “sick” and “couldn’t make it through the whole evening” and his “phone was at 3%,” the group chose “Real Steel” instead. Sad!
June 22, 2021 Update: “Papa: Hemingway in Cuba” has now been in a runoff vote at least seven times, and has not won (except for when Jake won the vote).
On June 29, 2021, “Season Two” of NMC began. The hosts have been:
2x01: Nik
2x02: Ted
2x03: Abby
2x04: Lisa
2x05: Mardy
2x06: Jake / Ted
2x07: Will
2x08: Renée
2x09: Brandon
2x10: Scott / Jake (as Xi)
2x11: Pauline / Nicky
2x12: Nik
